UNDATED (KDAL) - The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is closing Zone 6 to hunting and trapping wolves effective at 5 p-m Friday. That leaves only Zone 3 where the quota has not yet been reached. Zone 3 includes parts of Burnett, Washburn, Rusk and Taylor Counties in northwestern Wisconsin. The quota in that zone is 18 and, to date, 11 wolves have been harvested. Meanwhile, the late wolf hunting season is also underway in Minnesota. The East Central Zone is scheduled to close at the end of Friday since 9 of the quota of 10 wolves have already been registered. In the Northeast Zone, 48 of the target number of 56 have been harvested. The Northwest Zone has a quota of 187 and 58 have been taken so far. The late season will close on January 31st in Minnesota unless the quotas are met earlier.
