Visitors to Jay Cooke State Park will have an easier go of it starting Wednesday. That's when the rehabilitated Hwy. 210 bridge in Thomson will reopen following severe flooding in June. Flood waters had destroyed the bridge's approaches as well as an overflow culvert. A new bridge had been built to replace that culvert.
The park's popular swinging bridge, which suffered significant damage in the flood, still requires extensive repairs, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources website. It's slated to reopen late summer in 2013.
