Dayton Appeals Individual Assistance Denial By FEMA

ST. PAUL, MN (KDAL) - Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton has sent a letter to the Regional Administrator of FEMA appealing the decision to deny individual financial aid to those affected by the June flooding.  In the letter, Dayton says the vast majority of homeowners in the areas that were flooded did not have flood insurance and without federal assistance many, especially the elderly and disadvantaged, will suffer intolerably.  Over 1700 homes were damaged in the six county area hit by heavy rains and flooding.  The Governor asks FEMA to reconsider the state's request and authorize the Individual Assistance Program.
