Cold And Damp Weather Helps Slow BWCA Fire Growth

Pagami Creek Fire Boundary Line
Pagami Creek Fire Boundary Line

ELY, MN (KDAL) - After the explosive growth of the Pagami Creek fire on Tuesday, colder temperatures along with some precipitation and lighter winds moved in on Wednesday and helped to slow the spread of the wildfire in the BWCA.  The fire remained at about 100,000 acres in size and is being fought on several fronts by crews on the ground and in the air.  Several Black Hawk helicopters from the National Guard have joined other aircraft in dumping water on the blaze.  325 firefighters are on the scene and more are expected to arrive today.  They are hoping to hold and reinforce the boundaries of the fire which is now the largest that Minnesota has seen in a hundred years.
