UNDATED (KDAL) - Little precipitation and above normal temperatures this past week has increased the fire danger in Minnesota with the driest area in the northeast. With the Pagami Creek fire expanding to 4500 acres over the weekend, several portages and waterways near the fire have been temporarily closed. The National Forest Service is also restricting campfires in the BWCA until further notice. Campfires will only be allowed from 6 p-m to midnight and only at designated campsites within firegrates. The use of gas and propane stoves are still permitted at anytime. Visitors to the forest are urged to take special care and make sure campfires, where permitted, are doused thoroughly until cold to the touch.
