DULUTH, Min (KDAL) Derek Boogaard's death has been ruled accidental by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner. The former Minnesota Wild player died from an alcohol and oxycodone mixture. His body was found in his Minneapolis home on Friday, May 13th. Oxycodone is a powerful pain medication. Boogaard was sidelined by a concussion last December which ended his season with the New York Rangers. Prior to his stint with the Rangers, Boogaard skated with the Wild from 2005-2010, becoming a fan favorite because of his aggressive approach to the game.
