ST. PAUL, Min. (MNN) - The Republican-controlled Minnesota House has passed a bill to provide tax relief for businesses, scale back the renters property tax refund, and reduce state aid to cities and counties. Meanwhile, DFLers warn that will drive up property taxes. Democrats made a number of attempts to redirect money that Republicans want for business tax relief and instead use it to ease planned cuts in the property tax refund for renters. But St. Cloud Republican Steve Gottwalt says government must live within its means and allow businesses to create jobs, adding: "If you don't have a job, you don't have property."
