Governor Dayton and DNR officials unveiled new legislation Wednesday aimed at preventing the spread of aquatic invasive species in Minnesota.  The bill would authorize the DNR to provide a more thorough watercraft inspection and enforcement, increase penalties for violations and require training and permitting for lake service providers.  Governor Dayton says bipartisan support and commitment is necessary to stop the invasion before it is too late. Such invasive species as zebra mussels, eurasian watermilfoil and spiny waterfleas have already been discovered in 1,000 lakes and rivers around Minnesota.
