ST. PAUL, MN (KDAL) - In another attempt to reach a budget compromise, marathon meetings are scheduled for Friday and Saturday with Governor Mark Dayton and legislative leaders. Without an agreement, the state could face a government shutdown on July 1st. Duluth officials say such a shutdown would delay state aid payments to the city and at least 16 employees of the Duluth Workforce Development and Training Department would be laid off. Notices went out on Thursday to those whose jobs are in jeopardy. Many area people who use the Workforce Development Center would also be affected.
