DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - The National Weather Service has issued an "Excessive Heat Warning" for much of northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin through 10 p-m on Wednesday.  The "Heat Index" during this period will remain in the 95 to 105 degree range except for areas along Lake Superior where slightly cooler temperatures will provide some relief on Monday and Tuesday.  The hot temperatures and high humidity can result in heat related illness and residents are urged to take precautions to keep safe.  Drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks in the shade when working or playing outdoors and check up on elderly friends and relatives.  Outdoor pets should also be provided with lots of water and shady areas.  High temperatures are expected to be in the upper 80's to low 90's through most of the week.
