The Senate Tax Committee has approved a bill that slashes state aid to cities and counties by 594-million dollars.  The local government aid reductions are for fiscal years 2012 and 2013.  Supporters say the measure extends LGA cuts that were already made in 2010.  Opponents warn it will result in 322-million dollars in local property tax increases.  The legislation now goes to the Senate Finance Committee.
