Michigan State’s mission to leave their mid season slump in the rear view mirror and get off the bubble to make the NCAA Tournament field resumes tonight with a Big Ten road game against Minnesota. The visiting Spartans look to have some momentum from Saturday night’s must win at home over Illinois. The Spartans have won their last games at Minnesota’s Williams Arena.
Western Michigan last night couldn’t hold off Kent State and the Broncos lost at home 74-to-72 to the Golden Flashes. WMU was outscored 13-to-4 over the final 4-and-a-half minutes to see their 3-game winning streak come to an end.
Flenard Whitfield had 24 points for the Broncos, who drop into a first place tie with Ball State in the MAC West at 7-and-5 in conference play and 15-and-11 overall.
Tomorrow night, Western Michigan hosts Toledo. And the Duke Blue Devils are back on top of the polls, replacing Kansas after the Jayhawks fell last week to Kansas State.
