Minnesota officials want to pump more than one-billion dollars in state sales tax dollars into building new parks and trails - and upgrading existing ones.  DNR Commissioner Tom Landwehr says most new parks and recreational areas will be of the local and county variety.  Many will be around the Twin Cities metro but outstate Minnesota will get its fair share. Landwehr foresees new regional parks in such areas as Willmar, St. Cloud and Detroit Lakes.  As for new state parks he thinks there will not be very many over the next 25 years.  Landwehr says Minnesotans have a love affair with their parks and rec areas, especially at a time when travel budgets are tight.
