The snow and cold is taking its toll on Minnesota wildlife looking for food. The problem is especially troublesome in northern Minnesota where the snowpack is three-feet deep or more in some areas. Fred Bengston is the area wildlife manager for the Sauk Rapids D-N-R office and says some of the younger and weaker deer may have a difficult time making it to spring. Bengston says pheasants and wild turkeys may be at more risk because of the deeper than usual snow and a successful fall harvest throughout central Minnesota.
