UNDATED (KDAL) - Recent testing has found Asian Carp DNA in the St. Croix River. The discovery has Department of Natural Resources and other officials worried as the invasive fish continues to spread out from the Mississippi River. Minnesota Senators Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken both released statements promising to work on legislation to create effective barriers to keep the fish from spreading into other inland waterways and the Great Lakes. The Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen says the new discoveries reconfirms the need for legal actions to close the link between the Chicago waterway and Lake Michigan. The U-S Court of Appeals in Chicago is expected to rule soon on whether the Federal District Court improperly denied the motion of Wisconsin, Minnesota and other states to close the Chicago canal to stop the Asian Carp migration into the Great Lakes.
