DULUTH. Min (KDAL) - Attendance at Tuesday's Empty Bowl fundraiser for the Northern Lakes Food Bank was down about 14 percent from a year ago. The event at the Depot and an online auction of unique handcrafted bowls brought in a total of over 57 thousand dollars for the food bank. The online auction actually doubled the money raised from 2010 thanks to a bowl signed by the members of the National Champion UMD Bulldog Hockey team. That bowl along with a Kyle Schmidt signed jersey and poster sold for 1200 dollars. The 2nd Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank rescues and distributes food to over 200 food shelves and other non profit feeding programs in northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin.
