UNDATED (MNN) - Residents and officials are waiting for the last of the crests along the Red River in northwestern Minnesota. In the meantime, major flood levels are predicted within 24-hours at Pembina-St. Vincent near the Canadian border. Kittson County Emergency Management Director Holly Anderson says the Army Corps of Engineers is examining the situation today. The Red has already crested at Drayton and remains over major flood stage at many points to the south. Meanwhile in southern Minnesota it's beginning to dry out after heavy flooding earlier this spring. Mn-DOT's Rebecca Arndt says they were prepared to close more roads than they actually did, thanks to colder weather which helped slow the high water. Arndt says Highway-169 held up well during the high water but there are still some roads closed between Mankato and St. Peter. The Minnesota River at Henderson dipped below flood stage Thursday morning -- months after a record crest last fall.
