ST. PAUL, Min. (MNN) - A report released by the Minnesota Management and Budget Office shows more than a thousand government employees opted for early retirement under a 2010 law, saving the state nearly 47-million dollars over a three year span. Numbers show after the buyouts, 60-percent of the open jobs were filled with lower salaried positions, while the rest of the jobs were eliminated. The report comes as both Minnesota's House and Senate are pushing workforce reduction bills through the 2011 Legislature in order to help balance the state budget.
