The Lions did yesterday what they seem to do best, score first, then fall behind with turnovers and allowing big plays but then rally, or at least try to fight back, before losing, again. It happened Sunday at Minnesota, where the Vikings handed Detroit its 22nd straight road loss 24-to-10 and leaves the Lions 0-and-3 to start the season.

It was a must win for Minnesota, which improves to 1-and-2Detroit scored first after intercepting a Brett Favre pass. Tony Scheffler caught a 5-yard touchdown pass from Shaun Hill. However, the Vikings tied it at 7-all after a Detroit fumble on a punt gave Minnesota a short field.

The Lions trailed 14-to-10 at the half and then the real back-breaker was delivered by Adrian Peterson, who turned the corner and after a stiff arm, pulled away for an 80-yard touchdown run for the game’s final score. Peterson finished with 160 yards rushing and two touchdowns.

Detroit was hurt by the loss of rookie running back Jahvid Best, who strained a big toe in the first half, and left the game early in the third quarter with just 26 yards rushing, a week after piling up 232 yards in total offense.

Brett Favre is now 19-and-0 when he plays at home against the Lions. Next Sunday, it’s Detroit at Green Bay, which plays the Bears tonight in Chicago.
