(Washington, DC) -- Flight attendants at Delta Air Lines will vote at the end of this month (9/29) on whether they want a union. Rene Foss with the Association of Flight Attendants union calls today's announcement by the National Mediation Board "just great" and says the timing is perfect because of Labor Day weekend. Delta Air Lines spokeswoman Gina Laughlin (LOFF-lin) responds the carrier will respect whatever decision the flight attendants make. But she adds Delta has an 80-year track record of treating employees well and "that unique culture...is worth preserving." Northwest Airlines flight attendants have a union but since the merger they've been pushing to unionize all cabin attendants at the combined carrier.
