(St. Paul, MN) -- Governor Pawlenty has signed an 80-million-dollar flood relief package for southern Minnesota, complimenting lawmakers on both sides of the aisle on the work they did. The governor says he's disappointed, however, that the federal government did not approve grants for homeowners who do not have flood insurance. Pawlenty says the feds should reform thresholds for individual assistance, but indicates he won't appeal FEMA's decision because the chance of success is low, plus it could hold up other aid. The flood bill he signed into law provides low-interest loans to homeowners which are forgiveable in some cases.
