GREEN BAY, Wis. (WTAQ) - Brown County Executive Tom Hinz has announced he's retiring from his post.
In a statement, Hinz says it's the most difficult decision he's had to make in recent years. Hizn won't seek run for re-election in the upcoming 2011 spring election.
Hinz said, "I truly enjoy what I am doing, but it is time for me to move on. I am 68-years-old and in good health. To properly do the job as County Executive, it requires putting in at least 50-60 hours a week and attending many evening meetings.
After spending 3 years in the Army, 37 years in law enforcement, 2 years on the County Board and 3-and-a-half years as Brown County Executive, I feel it is time for me to slow down. I have been struggling to make this decision for several weeks, but it is time.
I have repeatedly mentioned to others that retirement from any job should be bittersweet, because if it isn't, maybe you shouldn't have been in that particular job in the first place."
Hinz adds he still plans on being actively involved in many community organizations.
