Governor Pawlenty wants his replacement to go on the offense to keep defense contracting jobs in Minnesota. After getting word that Lockheed Martin will close its Eagan plant by 2013, Governor Pawlenty sent a letter to company executives offering state assistance to help keep the facility open. He calls Lockheed "an important business partner in Minnesota," and says he'll urge the incoming governor to push for incentives during the next legislative session to retain the jobs in Eagan. One-thousand jobs are on the line in Minnesota and Lockheed says about 650 of those positions will be transfered to other states.
