The 2010 Minnesota firearms deer hunt opens Saturday. Several hundred thousand hunters are expected to head into the woods and fields around the state to try their luck at bagging a big one. The DNR's Lou Cornicelli says deer hunting brings in around a quarter billion dollars to the state's economy each year as the average hunter spends around 800 dollars. Bob Kirsch, the DNR Wildlife Manager for the Two Harbors area, says the deer population varies from place to place in northeastern Minnesota.
