Minnesota employers added over 12 thousand new jobs in April, helping the state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate to drop to 7.2 percent. That is down from 7.3 percent in March and compares to a 9.9 percent rate nationally. Six of the state's 11 major employment sectors added jobs last month, including trade, transportation, education and health care. Job losses in April included professional business services, construction and financial activities.
