The Tigers lost to the Twins 4-to-3 last night when Minnesota scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth. With one out and Ryan Perry on the mound, J.J. Hardy bounced a triple off the wall in left-center and then with the next batter at the plate, Perry uncorked a wild pitch and Hardy easily scored. Brennan Boesch belted a solo homer in the top of the ninth to tie the game at three for Detroit.

The second place Tigers, who now trail Minnesota by 2-and-a-half games, will try to avoid the 3-game sweep this afternoon with Rick Porcello starting for Detroit. The White Sox lost 7-to-2 to the Royals while the Cubs fell 3-to-2 at Pittsburgh.
