(St. Paul, MN) -- Weekend negotiations have led to a compromise bill with the House and Senate on phase one of state budget cuts. Lawmakers will vote on the bill today and would like to pass it prior to breaking for the Passover and Easter holidays. House Majority Leader Tony Sertich says if the bill is approved and signed by Governor Pawlenty then the session will end faster. If the governor vetoes it, then Sertich says quote, "we're going to be here for awhile." A Pawlenty spokesman says if the bill is prudent, the governor will give it due consideration, but he does reserve the right for vetoes. The measure calls for a 207-million-dollar cut in spending, plus a 105-million-dollar chop in state government aid to cities.
