Jimmy Howard will start in goal tonight for the Red Wings as Detroit takes on the Minnesota Wild at Joe Louis Arena. Meanwhile, the Atlanta Thrashers yesterday recalled former Detroit defenseman Chris Chelios, marking the 26th consecutive NHL season in which the 48-year-old will hit the ice.
Chelios has spent all of this season with the American Hockey League’s Chicago Wolves, playing in 46 games. A three-time Norris Trophy winner as the NHL's top defenseman, he last appeared in the league in the 2008-2009 season, when he played in 28 games for the Red Wings.
