>>Howard Expected To Play In U.S.-Slovenia Game Friday

(Johannesburg, South Africa)  --  The U.S. expects to have goalie Tim Howard in net Friday as the Americans take on Slovenia in their second contest of the 2010 World Cup.  Howard was cleared to play after suffering a rib injury in Team USA's 1-all draw with England on Saturday.  Slovenia currently leads the group with three points, via a victory over Algeria in its first match of this year's tournament.

The Americans and English are tied in second place with a point apiece, while Algeria has no points.  The U.S., which is ranked 14th in the world, would move into first place in Group C with a win.  In that case, England could also grab a part of the group lead with a win over Algeria on Friday.  An American loss to Slovenia, however would put the team down, but not necessarily out.  The top two teams in the group will advance to the knockout rounds of the tournament.  Today's game gets underway at 9:00 a.m.
