A third death has been confirmed in a series of tornadoes that tore through Minnesota Thursday. Freeborn County officials say one person was killed at a farm west of Albert Lea. Emergency officials estimate around nine tornadoes spawned along a 20-mile path in rural parts of the county. Between 40 and 60 farms sustained damage. Southern Minnesota had the highest concentration of twisters on Thursday. While there were more tornadoes in southern Minnesota Thursday, the most damage happened in northwestern Minnesota, most notably around the city of Wadena. It's possible as many as three tornadoes hit Wadena just after 5:00 last night, leveling parts of the community and injuring dozens. Shawn Soroko had his semi was picked up and tossed about 100 yards by the twister. Authorities are crediting the town's storm warning system for saving lives. More people than usual were in town because of a school reunion. The school was heavily damaged but those inside huddled in the basement and were safe.
