(Undated) -- According to the latest "Kids Count" report, Minnesota ranks second only to New Hampshire in the overall well-being of its children. But childhood poverty numbers in Minnesota may still seem staggering, with more than 141-thousand such children in 2008. Annie E. Casey Foundation President Patrick McCarthy says that number is up from 2007 and likely to go higher. There are 26-thousand more children living in poverty in Minnesota than in 2000, and two of Minnesota's most glaring statistics show more low-weight babies and a rise in single-parent households.
