Minnesota Power will invest about 70 million dollars to acquire a 465 mile long transmission line connecting the Square Butte Electric Cooperative in North Dakota with the substation in Hermantown. Several hundred megawatts of wind generated power will be delivered to customers over the line. The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission issued an order approving the purchase on December 21st.
