Minnesota's U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken were among those voting "yes" as President Obama's tax compromise cleared a test vote in the U.S. Senate on Monday. Klobuchar wanted Bush-era tax cuts to expire for those making more than a million dollars, but said she had to balance that against the entire proposal, which includes continuing the tax cuts for the middle class. Senator Franken explained he reluctantly voted for the compromise, noting he also does not like extending what he calls "the excessive Bush tax cuts for the wealthy." But Franken said there's a lot in the package to help middle-class Minnesotans weather the recession.
