(Minneapolis, MN)  --   A San Francisco consulting engineering firm will pay 52-point-four-million dollars to settle a lawsuit by victims of the 2007 Minnesota bridge collapse.  Victims' attorney Chris Messerly calls it a "bittersweet day."  He says everyone feels good about reaching closure, but many victims are still in pain or face more surgeries.  Messerly added, quote, "their lives are forever altered."   Engineering company URS says the settlement "fully resolves the plaintiffs' legal claims...with no admission of liability or fault."  Thirteen people died and more than 100 were injured when the Interstate 35-W bridge collapsed near Minneapolis.
