Two Embattled State Senators Lose Primary

(Various)  --  Former State Representative Barb Goodwin by a large margin defeated incumbent Democrat Satveer Chaudhary (SOT'-veer CHAWD'-ree) in Tuesday's primary in state Senate District-50.  Fridley-area Democrats revoked Chaudhary's endorsement after a Senate ethics panel reprimanded him for pushing a bill that would have improved fishing on a northern Minnesota lake where Chaudhary owns a cabin.  Primary-winner Goodwin is up against Republican Gina Bauman in the November election.  And party-endorsed candidate Paul Gazelka (guh-ZELL'-kuh) defeated incumbent state Senator Paul Koering (CORE'-ing) in the Republican primary in District 12 in north-central Minnesota.  Koering, Minnesota's first openly-gay Republican state senator, saw his political fortunes take a tumble when word got out that he'd had dinner with a gay porn star at a restaurant in Brainerd.  Primary winner Gazelka faces Democrat Taylor Stevenson in the November election.
