(Grand Rapids, MN)  --  Firefighters had their hands full over the weekend across northern and central Minnesota.  Fifty wildfires were being fought -- some of the largest in northwestern Minnesota.  To the east near Grand Rapids, crews were mopping up hot spots left by one particularly large fire at Highway-11 in Deer River.  Earlier in the weekend, the D-N-R enlisted the help of two National Guard Blackhawk helicopters in the fire fight of a blaze near Eveleth.  To date, there have been nearly 800 wildfires with just under 16-thousand acres burned statewide this year.
