MANITOWOC, Wis. (WTAQ) - Steven Avery will have to wait until after the new year to learn if he will get a new trial. An appeals court in Waukesha ordered Manitowoc County Judge Patrick Willis to decide by Tuesday whether he would grant Avery a new trial. However, Judge Willis has requested an extension and is now looking at having a decision around January 29th. Avery's attorneys believe he should get a new trial because he wasn't able to present evidence other people could have killed Teresa Halbach and because of the dismissal of a juror during deliberations.
