Plenty of snow...but some trails are closed.

by Craig Holgate

It's not really the weather, but rather the arrival of April that has some snowmobile trails closed.

Grant-in-aid snowmobile trails officially close April 1 because the permits with private landowners expire. However, State trails remain open on public land while weather and snow conditions permit. While we do still have snow this year, the DNR reminds snowmobilers that riding on trails that traverse private land without the landowners permission, is trespassing.

All that Deep snow has also delayed the opening of seasonal rest areas

Six, seasonal rest areas in Northeastern Minnesota will remain closed until Monday, April 21 due to deep snow.
