Zimmerman juror should be applauded

by Greg Belfrage

Another juror in the George Zimmerman murder trial has gone public

The Hispanic woman was identified as juror B29 during the trial.  She felt Zimmerman was guilty, but says she couldn't convict him on the evidence.

Did you hear that?  She wanted to convict Zimmerman, but said the evidence didn't support it.  This woman should be applauded, as should the rest of the jury.

This is exactly how the American justice system is supposed to work.  Jurors are supposed to weigh the evidence, not their feelings, when determining guilt or innocence of defendants.

This is a direct contradiction to what's been happening all over the country since Zimmerman's acquittal.  There are far too many demanding an outcome based solely on their feelings.

One would think minorities would be the first to appreciate a justice system based on evidence instead of preconceptions of guilt and mob rule.

The juror said she feels as if she owes an apology to the parents of Trayvon Martin.

I understand her feelings, but they are misplaced.  B29 fulfilled her duty as a juror in the finest tradition of the American justice system.  She should hold her head up high.. mob be damned.
