Shark Attack in a Lake??

by Susan Kennedy

Now I can never swim in lakes again!!

A 7 year old boy was swimming in Lake Pontchartrain in Louisiana when he felt something run into him and then bite down on his heel! The boy was taken to the hospital and should recover from the encounter.

The shark was not seen or caught, but after examining the bite, experts say it was probably a 5 ft bull shark. Apparently bull sharks can live in fresh water, it's just very rare and so are attacks in generally. It was probably a "bite and run" where the shark mistakes the foot for food, takes a nibble and swims away.
